International Allbreeds Judging Qualification

Resume of Megan Markotany

I am an international allbreeds judge and my specialty is cocker spaniels and elkhounds. I started showing and breeding  in 1974 with the purchase of a show cocker spaniel.
I have studied my breed by attending courses in genetics, conformation and breed management. My thirst for knowledge led me to studying and attaining my Gundog License in 1994, then worked towards my International Allbreeds License which I achieved in 2006.

Since gaining my first license I have judged in all states of Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canadia, Bali and South Korea.  Thailand, China and South Africa. I have also been priviledged to judge the following specialty shows - Queensland and NSW Cocker Spaniel Specialty, Hungarian Vizsla Specialty, Pekingnese Specialty, Rhodesian Ridgeback Specialty, Dachshund Specialty, Border Terrier Specialty, Dalmation Specialty, American Cocker Spaniel Specialty, Boxer Specialty shows, Sweepstakes for Collie Roughs, and Siberian Huskies. I have also judged numerous Gundog, Toy, Hound and Non Sporting Group Specialty Shows.

My interest in the canine world has led to me holding positions on committee of the Cocker Spaniel Club of the ACT, ACT Gundog Society, Hound Club of the ACT, Norwegian Elkhound Club of Australia, ACT Ladies, Murray Valley Kennel Club and Yass Agricultural Society. NSW Cocker Spaniel Society

My cockers are consistent winners at breed level as well as taking group and show wins. I have campaigned over 30 cockers to their Championship status (25 of these were bred by me) and I have campaigned 2 Grand  Champion and 3 Supreme Champions who are Grand Champion Kenbey Play Boy to multi Best in Show awards, Supreme Champion Bolwarra Rip Tide, Supreme Champion Bolwarra Saint Nick, Grand Champion Bolwarra Shimmer. Bolwarra has 30 champions, 4 Supreme champions and 1 Grand Champion in my prefix.  The Elkhounds are my husband, Gabor’s passion, and they have been consistently top preforming dogs for him. Grand Champion Graabine Padaarsen holds the record for the top winning Australian Elkhound having won 10 Best in show awards and 40 Best in Group

International Hound Judging Qualification

 Resume of Gabor Markotany

Although showing Elkhounds since 1978, it is only in the last 3 years that I have started to judge and now have my hound license. This has given me an entirely new perception of the whole show world, you see things quite differently from the centre of the ring. I have been able to judge in South Australia, Victoria, NSW, Western Australia and Queensland where I have drawn some impressive entries and have been able to give awards to some great dogs. I have judged twice in America Judging the Sacramento Norwegian Elkhound Club Specialty in October 2008 and in 2009 judging for Donner Trail Kennel Club.

In 2011 I was previlidged to Judge the Elkhound National in Canadia where I awarded Ch Dagarwoods Pardon Me Boys Best in Show
